If i'm not mistaken, the aspencade was a 500cc version of the GW. Is that the case here? I own a 83 GW 1100 with 179k miles and i routinely see them in the paper for 3 to 4 grand, depending on condition. The 500cc versions go for 2 or 3 grand depending on the shape, and also the region of the country has a lot to do with it also. Southern parts of the country command higher bike prices because the riding season is longer and bikes are more useful. I'm from ohio and many of my friends from the carolina's come to visit me and purchase a bike while they're here, because they're a thousand or two cheaper here. Get a bike trader mag and do a little research. Hope this helped at least a little. EDIT-Thanks for the correction, bikinkaw and andrew, the seventies were tough on my brain cells!!

The original '83-'85 or '86 Venture was the 1200cc V-4 Jet-doc mentioned. Fast, sporty and good gas mileage. Crappy bags and trunk and the fairing provided poor wind protection. Very poor passenger protection. Rare is the 1200 where 2nd gear is still usable. The 2nd gear shifting fork was notorious for bending and to replace it, the engine had to be removed and completely torn down. Completely. That shaft was the very last thing to come out, even after the crankshaft. Most people just put up with it and skipped 2nd gear.

The '87 and up was a 1300cc with much better bags and trunk and without the 2nd gear problem. Still had the same poor fairing though. As mentioned, it's the same engine in the VMax and Harley-esque Ventures. A good engine but carbs that are a real pain to pull and work on.

I had the same problem. I am 6'3" and I had a hard time finding a comfy bike because of my long legs. I am a Kawasaki rider and you will find that most riders prefer to stick to one brand. I suggest an older Kawasaki ZX-9. It is a great bike, and still readily available, though it is no longer in production. I also like the Kawasaki ZZR 1200. It is a bigger bike with a good amount of power, but will not cost as much for insurance, since it is considered a sport tourer. For your size, I suggest no less than a 750. You should go to a bike show and sit on some bikes. We have a show every December in Los Angeles, and its a good oppertunity to check out all the new bikes from all the manufacturers. You can always just go to your local dealership and check out the new and used bikes.

There are two acceptable cuts for men's suits. Interview Secrets Click here These are the traditional European cut which is a bit fitted and the classic American cut which is looser and more boxy. Both cuts are available today in two or three-button jackets (never wear one or four buttons). The American suit is usually more traditional looking. The European suit is more fitted and looks tailored. While I like and wear double breasted suits, they are not appropriate for interviews - even with law firms or the State Department.

There are two colors that are acceptable for men's suits: dark blue and gray. The blue is navy blue. Grays in dark (or charcoal) and medium are fine. Light gray is questionable for interviews. The suits can be solid, pin stripe or chalk stripe. Regardless, they should look classic and muted - not like those worn by race track enthusiasts or mob bosses.

The best fabric is year round weight 100% wool. In the dead of winter heavier wool is acceptable. Summer weight wool or even poplin (dressy cotton) can be work in late June, July and August. A very small percentage of polyester is acceptable for strength. The fabric should not shine or have a patterned texture.

For a man's jacket to fit properly in must be the right size and cut. Also, it must be tailored to adjust it in various places. Try on suit jackets until you find one that is comfortable in the back, chest and shoulders with the top (if two button) or middle (if three button) button closed. The fingers should be able to just curl under the hem (bottom) of the jacket if it is the right length. You MUST wear a dress shirt to try on a suit jacket. A polo or tee-shirt will not do. If the jacket fits properly in the chest, shoulders and back (look at the 3-way mirror in the dressing room), now try on the trousers.

Trousers whether plain front or pleated front need to fit in the waist, crotch and the seat. The length will need to be tailored. If the pockets pull, the trousers are too small. If the pants droop much below the belly button, then the wait is too big. You need a dress belt and dress shoes to wear when trying on the suit trousers (not running shoes!). More on that below.

The suit jacket should be tailored in several areas. The back should not have a bubble, wrinkle or hump. The collar (or "cape") and lapels should lie flat and not "wing out". The sleeves should EACH be measured from the tip of the thumb. Whether to show some cuff shows is a matter of personal taste. I prefer to show a little shirt cuff. Nothing else on the suit jacket should need to be tailored if it is the right size and cut.

The trousers must fit at the waist. Try them on with a dress belt. They also must fit at the seat. Try to sit in them unless you stand all day. They should not pull in the front. The length of the trousers is important. Dress shoes are necessary to get the proper fit.

I own a bike accessory business and see all sorts of machines here. I also own Ducati's myself (999 and ST2) but when people ask me for advice on perhaps the best all round bike then I really have no hesitation in saying that pretty much any Honda VFR model is about as good as you can get for doing just about everything very well, some things brilliantly and nothing badly.

Sure the magazines will do reviews on sports tourers periodically and come up with this weeks bike of the year, that is better but overall I believe the VFR is pretty much the bench mark that all others are judged against.

If you don't fancy that then take a look at the modern BMW's they tick all your boxes and the new ones are still a lot of smiles on the twisties. You are covering some serious miles there, how about a Honda Blackbird or one of the big FJ Yamahas? I personally took the ST2 all over Europe many times and it never missed a beat or had any issues at all but I know that people still have a worry about Ducati servicing. The new ST3 though is apparently a fantastic machine designed for what you are doing and independently well received. It is also one of the above mentioned "this weeks bike of the year".

If I were you though I would be looking at a VFR and believe me it would take a lot to get me to not buy Italian but when doing what you are, then the head and heart must combine to overule pure emotion.

I believe the rear is from a Ford Mustang, I was looking into one of these bikes for a friend.

If that is no help, you can have the original shoes relined, it is common practice on tractor trailer brake shoes and antiques. You can google that.
